RIP Thor my friend, my companion.... January 1, 2003- August 9, 2011

On August 9th my 8 year old German Shepherd passed away. Maine Vet. Clinic put him on steroids for a problem which killed him. Larger dogs can have adverse reaction to steroids so if a vet prescribes steroids to your dog PLEASE ask for an alternative medication!

Thor has join his friend Katie

                                                           Hera misses the both :(
A dear friend sent me this wonderful poem...Thank You Marti.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Your heart is where Thor and Katie are and will always be.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a noble companion.

So sorry. He was a beautiful boy with a handsome face. You will miss him but do know that you gave him a wonderful life. Sending you a hug.

Losing a pet is such sorrowful thing. (I agree about steroids.)

We have a 4 pound Yorkie who is 11...and my last Yorkie lived until age 20. I still miss her. They also react to most medication-- because they are so tiny.

Pets are like people... but nicer. They truly are companions.

Oh Wendy,
How I know how horrible it is to lose our precious pets, I too have been lost without my Chloe this year, that our vet, missed her real problem, and she died as a result of it as well...How, I know what you are going through. It helps to talk about it, and share the photos...Miss ya!!!

I'm so sorry about the loss of Thor. I had a GS for nearly 10 years and they are such loyal friends.
